The Brief

This project was structured in two different phases.

Phase 1 Fully Refurbishment of over 450 m² lovely farmhouse.

Phase 2 construction of new built extension which linked existing building and the extension by a beautiful glazed/timber framed cloister with a wine cellar underneath – glazed floor so you could walk over the link cloister while looking down to the cellar with room for more than 1000 bottles. The extension consisted of a new study, games room, party room, a double storey guest’s cottage, indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, kitchenette, WC/showers and new dedicated plant room.

New landscaping incl. new tree planting, parterre, courtyard, lawn, terrace, gravel paths surrounded by vineyard.

The Solution

OHS provided mechanical services design and assessed a wide range of heating options for the project. In the end, the team opted for a commercial oil boiler along with wet UFH, cast iron radiators, towel rails, water storage booster tank, water softeners & oil tank.

The main challenge was to coordinate the works while the client was living at the property, area of works were separated to ensure privacy to the client and to make sure the H&S implemented accordingly for their safety.

Also another challenge was to make sure the design of the new extension worked in conjunction with the main house, linking controls and operation to ensure a smooth understanding for the clients.

Due to the nature of the site and the long distances to cover, we opted for using heavy insulated Rehau pipe in pipe, to ensure the heat losses across the ground were minimised.

MegaFlo EcoPlus unvented hot water cylinder to ensure we achieved a quick hot water recovery turn around including recirculation domestic hot water to ensure hot water at the flick of the tap

Smart controls system with remote App connectivity to be able to control all areas remotely from anywhere in the world.
